A small team from Andromeda made the trip down to Medellin, Colombia where we attended Cosmoverse and what felt like three dozen afterparties and meet ups. If you ever get the chance to visit Medellin, take advantage of it. It’s a truly remarkable city.

It’s ludicrous this place exists and everybody doesn’t want to live here.” — Anthony Bourdain when visiting Colombia in 2008

However, as Andromeda started out as a Terra-focused platform, this was our first time to attend an event with the rest of the Cosmos. It was nice seeing that many people at the conference were familiar with what we’ve been up to and in some cases could actually speak in detail about it.

It was also really nice to see so many infrastructure players there supporting the different facets of the ecosystem. Validators, in particular were on hand to chat about how IBC relayers were being deployed, what they were seeing around governance, etc. Perfect timing for us as we march towards mainnet.

Let’s get to it…

Tech Stack Diagram

Here’s a quick diagram of the software. This has taken us a few months to figure out exactly how everything fits together in a way that makes sense.

Chain, Validators & Governance

As we draw closer to Galileo-3 (our next testnet) we’ll be onboarding another 10 validators. We have a handful of them already primed for inclusion, but we’re still open to more. If you’re interested reach out.

We have also set up Commonwealth for governance discussion. We’ll be posting a lot of our research and thoughts there as DAO governance design and chain configuration is established.

Command Line Interface

The first working touchpoint of our tech stack will be the CLI as it’s basically a direct implementation of the ANDR.js library. The CLI will always have the superset of functionality, while the GUI (web app) will have a subset. This is a CLI-first driven approach due to the highly technical nature of our system’s backend.

We’re hoping for a 0.1 release in the next few days.

Here’s a quick video that shows it off:

Marketplace

The Marketplace is where you’ll find application templates for you to use and customize. Right now, these are controlled by the dev team as examples of what we’ve been using for testing, but in the future they will be managed by the DAO to ensure they are safe for the public to use.

ADO Browser

ADOs are starting to look a lot like files. Objects on chain that resemble some sort of tangible asset. Lots of work is being done on this front. So much potential in this area of the system!

IBC — Inter Blockchain Communications

Andromeda has always been destined for a multi-chain deployment. We knew this when we started as the real value in the Cosmos is the “internet of blockchains” approach.

We had some time to sit down with the lead IBC protocol engineers at Cosmoverse and our visions couldn’t have been more aligned. We are building in the same direction that they are — serendipitously.

Routing through the Cosmos is going to be the next big thing.

That’s about it for now… back at it!
